retreat into lent
Join with us February 10-12 in the beauty of Cedar Springs Retreat Center as Father Steve Tompkins, Father Nathaniel Kidd, and spiritual directors Marla Tuski and Jenny Pastore lead us into the Lenten season through ancient rhythms of corporate prayer, Lectio Divina, and times of silent reflection and personal prayer. Our goal is simple; to slow down and create worshipful space in our lives for the One who can lead us beside still waters and restore our souls. Marla Tuski describes a spiritual director as one who accompanies another Jesus follower as they open more fully to the love of God. She values how God meets her through the times she spends with her own spiritual director. She trained through SoulFormation School of Spiritual Direction and has had a practice for the past 5 years. She had 15 years of experience as a graduate level mental health counselor, and she studied theology at Regent College. Marla is glad to answer any questions you may have about spiritual direction. Besides being available to meet during the retreat, you can connect with her at gmtuski@gmail.com, or leave a message at 360-224-9810.
Fr. Nathaniel Kidd is an Anglican priest and Vicar of Reconciliation Anglican Church in Bellingham, WA. He completed his seminary training at Nashotah House, a semi-monastic community in Wisconsin, and his PhD with the ecumenical Jesuits at Marquette University, researching the role of angels and demons in 8th C Greek spirituality. The Good Life for Fr. Nathaniel revolves around praying the prayerbook offices in community every day -- chanted, if possible -- and lots of tea and good conversation. Lent or not, he'd love to pray iwth you whenever you're in Bellingham. You can email him: fr.nathaniel@racbellingham.org
Fr. Steve Tompkins serves as a priest at Holy Trinity Edmonds Anglican Church in Edmonds WA. Recently, he has been finding joy walking with others in the ministry of spiritual direction, helping them grow in their desires to recognize, receive, and respond to the presence of the One who gives rest and refreshing to weary souls. He has thirty years of experience in pastoral ministry and parish leadership. He completed his Masters degree at Regent College in Vancouver B.C., and his M.Div. at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago. You can contact him at Steve@holytrinityedmonds.com
Jenny Pastore is a Licensed Massage Therapist and Structural Integration practitioner, as well as a certified Spiritual Director (CFDM-Northwest, 2016). What she enjoys about both callings is being able to listen to people’s stories and companion them on their journey toward healing and wholeness, and help them discover where the Spirit of God is present in the midst of it. She has ministry experience in evangelical, Roman Catholic and Anglican contexts, with a graduate degree from Regent College (Vancouver, CA), and 10 years on the leadership team of Journey-Bellingham (formerly Living Waters)—a discipleship ministry focused on relational and sexual healing in Christ. Outside of managing her own practice, she loves to be outside hiking, backpacking, and going on adventures with friends or family. She is also a life-long learner—especially when it comes to Scripture, bodywork and movement practice, spiritual formation and artwork.
